Gonal-F injections started on Day 68 (Monday, June 15, 2009). I continue with my Lupron shots so that means two needles a day now. My Lupron dose has been decreased to 10 from 20 units and Gonal-F is 225 units. Although the needles are the same size, the tips of these needles are duller, which means you want to apply more force when you administer them. My first two injections were noticeably less smooth than the Lupron. I ended up with a yellow bruise at the injection site on the first one, and a few unsuccessful attempts where I drew blood with the second one before I got it in. I have not noticed any side-effects yet though.
I am scheduled to visit the clinic this Friday to gauge my reaction to the drugs via ultrasound. I believe I also have more blood tests in store. I am curious to see the ultrasound since I don’t feel any different. I certainly don’t feel like I am carrying around any extra eggs.
I am only roughly a week away from my retrieval, which will hopefully fall on a weekend. Although the process isn’t complete yet, I am surprised things have gone so quickly and smoothly. I had expected more in terms of discomfort and inconvenience. I have my fingers crossed for the aftermath to follow the same trend.
