“Slow like a tortoise,” the doctor commented, referring to how slowly my eggs seem to be growing. “But they are growing,” he continued. The number of eggs I’m producing is respectable but they need to be in the 18-20 mm range before they are harvested. He’s fiddled with my drug dosages, brought Lupron down to 5 from 10, and as I said in a previous post, increased my Repronex to get faster results.
I visit the clinic everyday now for a daily check up, ultrasound, and blood draw. Today the doctor confirmed my retrieval date will most likely be Monday, June 29th, 2009 – at the latest it would be Tuesday. The doctor has been very puzzled by my delayed reaction to the drugs. This retrieval is occurring about a week behind schedule. So now it’s only 3 days away! I won’t get nervous til the night before though. I was glad to learn the doctor prefers to do his retrieval around 11:30 AM. I had been expecting to get up at a crazy early hour like 6:00 AM to make it downtown for 7:00 AM. I’m sooo glad that is not the case.
I am also waiting until the last minute to book a hotel room from Hotwire. Right now the rate is around $70 night for a 4 star hotel. I’ve never used it before so I’m curious what the results will be. I have two friends who will stay/check-in with me. I’m glad I don’t have to do it alone.
